Here in the deep south we love our mothers. And when it's time to plan a wedding it's customary for the mother-of-the bride to be heavily involved. From their help in choosing dresses and color palettes, to making decisions about budgets and vendors, to drying our eyes when things get stressful - we are so thankful for our mothers!

Flowers and art go together like....beans and cornbread. And if you don't already have that song stuck in your head, by all means have a listen here. It'll brighten your day and put a pep in your step!
But honestly, I can hardly think of a better pairing than flowers and art - it was just meant to be. My husband, Jerrod, is a professional artist, I am a floral designer, and truth be told, we're kinda like beans and cornbread, too.

Things have been a little quiet around here lately because there have big changes for our family in the past six months! On August 1st of 2016 we moved our family to the charming town of Ocean Springs, MS - a true artistic gem on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! As you can imagine the first few months were full of unpacking, getting kids settled into their new schools, exploring our new community, learning our way around, and plenty of trips to and from Jackson for weddings and also to decorate the MS Governor's Mansion for Christmas!
We're beginning to feel a little settled (even though we are in the midst of a major home renovation!) and I am so excited to be a part of the amazing community here in Ocean Springs! But moving a family of five is no joke! July was an absolute whirlwind - we sold our house in Fondren, bought a home in Ocean Springs (and all of the million details that come with buying and selling), oh, and Jerrod and I were in Italy for two weeks out of the month! Whew. I'm tired all over again just thinking about it. The thing about our crazy summer that I will never forget is the way that our friends and family loved us and carried us when we couldn't do it on our own. It was such a time of humility and thankfulness!
Fast forward 6 months, and here we are. What does all of this mean for Maidenhair? Well, first of all I plan to continue designing a few weddings a year in Jackson. Jackson is full of people and places that are near and dear to us, and I'm thankful for the chance to visit and work. So don't hesitate to let me know if you have a wedding coming up in the Jackson area!
Also, now that Maidenhair is based in Ocean Springs, MS I look forward to serving couples all along the Gulf Coast! If you're on the Gulf Coast or have contacts here please help me spread the word that Maidenhair is open for business here in Ocean Springs and beyond. It is an exciting adventure, and I look forward to all of the wonderful people that I will get to know through flowering here on the coast!

Thanksgiving Wedding with Ashleigh Coleman
It's not everyday that you wake up to see your work featured by Martha Stewart Weddings!
It was such a joy to work with my friend and talented photographer, Ashleigh Coleman, on her brother's wedding. Ashleigh lovingly planned and executed the details AND photographed it all! Nathan and Kate were married in an intimate ceremony on Thanksgiving Day in Toccopola, MS, and then they celebrated with their family around a lavish Thanksgiving table.
I honestly can't think of a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving! See the full feature on Martha Stewart Weddings, HERE.
Some of my favorite snippets of the celebration...
